Omdurman Forces Link Up with Al-Hajana in El-Obeid as Army Welcomes Them with Tanks

The city of El-Obeid, capital of North Kordofan State, witnessed on Sunday a historic military link-up between the forces of the 5th Infantry Division (Al-Hajana) and the Sudanese Armed Forces units advancing through the strategic export road linking Omdurman–Bara–El-Obeid, amid widespread popular and military celebrations.

Field sources reported that the army command in El-Obeid received the arriving forces with combat tanks in a grand military display celebrating the opening and securing of the vital land route connecting the capital with the state.

The field link-up comes as a major development in the military operations in Kordofan following a series of successful operations that led to the liberation and securing of key cities and strategic points along the export route.

Field commanders said the development represents a decisive strategic shift in the course of operations, paving the way for securing the wider Kordofan region and establishing control over supply and trade routes.
