SPLM-North Denies Ethiopian Mediation Efforts for Reconciliation Between Agar and Al-Hilu

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-North) has denied that its leader, Malik Agar, requested Ethiopian government mediation to facilitate reconciliation with Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu, saying in an official statement that no communication had taken place with the Ethiopian side on the matter.

The movement said it had chosen its political and military path based on firm convictions and would not compromise with any party whose positions conflict with Sudan’s unity and supreme interests.

The statement stressed that reports about a possible reconciliation with Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu amount to nothing more than “political illusion,” affirming that the movement would continue its course without paying attention to what it described as rumors and attempts to undermine its positions.

The denial comes amid growing discussions about internal disagreements and efforts to reshape the political landscape in areas under the movement’s influence. However, the statement put an end to speculation, reaffirming the movement’s firm position and its refusal to enter any path that does not serve its vision for Sudan’s unity.
