Army Drives Militia Out of Al-Kormuk as Militia Wounded Are Evacuated to Ethiopia
Military sources said that members of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, along with their commander Joseph Toka, fled the border area of Al-Kormuk on the Ethiopian frontier on Sunday morning under the pressure of precision strikes carried out by Sudanese Army drones.
The sources confirmed that the Sudanese Armed Forces have established control over most of the villages surrounding the town of Al-Kormuk, including the village of Al-Kormuk Al-Zariba, located just five kilometers from the town center.
According to the sources, a number of wounded RSF fighters were transferred to Assosa Hospital inside Ethiopian territory, while Al-Kormuk town has become completely free of militia elements following their retreat toward the Jarout area. The sources added that the town could be fully recaptured at any moment as the Sudanese Armed Forces continue their advance.
In a related development, the Fourth Infantry Division, supported by allied forces, announced that it had successfully carried out a sweeping operation in the Sarkam area as part of ongoing military operations aimed at securing the area and pursuing the remaining rebel elements.
The command said the operation resulted in the seizure of a number of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment abandoned by the hostile forces as they fled under the pressure of sustained military operations, while no casualties were reported among the participating troops.
The Fourth Infantry Division Command affirmed that clearing and security operations will continue until the entire area is cleared of all threats, field control is fully consolidated, and security and stability are restored. It also praised the vigilance and high combat readiness of its forces, reaffirming their preparedness to continue field operations until all military objectives are achieved
