Army-Backed Joint Force Captures Area Near El Fasher

The joint force supporting the Sudanese Armed Forces announced that it had taken control of the area of Abu Gamra in North Darfur State in the early hours of Saturday, without providing details of the military operation. Meanwhile, El Fasher Resistance Committees Coordination stated that the joint force had consolidated its control over the town following intense battles against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
Abu Gamra is located approximately 230 kilometres northwest of El Fasher.

Members of the joint force published a video showing the announcement of control over Abu Gamra in North Darfur on Saturday, marking a significant field development in the state, where the RSF has controlled large parts since October 2025.

The military operations come in response to attacks launched by the militia on three localities in North Darfur— Om Baro, Kornoy, and Al-Tina—since last December. The attacks resulted in hundreds of civilian deaths and injuries, and forced tens of thousands to flee toward Chad and other relatively safer areas within Sudan.
