Authorities Foil Major Crystal Meth Smuggling Attempt
Sudanese anti-smuggling authorities in Red Sea State, in coordination with the General Intelligence Service, seized 430 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (“ice”) in a major operation targeting an active trafficking network in the southern part of the state.
Director of Anti-Smuggling in Red Sea State, Brig. Gen. Jad Al-Karim Ahmed Al-Fadl, said the seizure followed intensive surveillance and close monitoring of smugglers’ movements over recent days. He noted that the operation, conducted jointly with the General Intelligence Service, thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of one of the most dangerous narcotics into the country, adding that all necessary legal procedures have been initiated.
For his part, Director of Customs Lt. Gen. Salah Ahmed Ibrahim commended the anti-smuggling unit in Red Sea State, saying it continues to meet security challenges by tracking smuggling networks and preventing the entry of harmful substances into Sudan.
