Abdel Rahim Dagalo Admits RSF Crimes Against Civilians

Deputy commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, Abdel Rahim Dagalo, acknowledged that members of the militia committed serious violations and crimes against defenceless civilians in conflict areas.

The remarks marked the first explicit public admission by a senior RSF leader, reinforcing international, UN, and local reports documenting systematic atrocities and abuses against Sudanese civilians since the outbreak of the war.

Dagalo claimed that the militia leadership had not shielded those involved, but had instead detained them and subjected them to immediate accountability measures and criminal investigations.

He added that individuals implicated in the violations and crimes are currently being held in RSF detention centers and prisons, in what observers view as an attempt to ease mounting international pressure and potential legal prosecution.
