Khartoum State Government: No Direction Toward Extending Currency Replacement Period

The Khartoum State Government confirmed that there is no intention to extend the period for replacing the old 500 and 1,000 Sudanese pound banknotes, stressing that the day before yesterday marked the final deadline for the process within the state.

According to the state’s electronic platform, Director-General of the Khartoum Ministry of Culture and Information, Al-Tayib Saad-Eddin, said the authorities had intensified media and public awareness campaigns for more than a month through various media outlets and social media platforms.

He considered the period granted to citizens sufficient to complete the replacement procedures and open the necessary bank accounts.
