Al-Safana’s Surrender Spurs RSF Commanders in Kordofan and Blue Nile to Defect to the Army

Sources told Al Hadath TV that negotiations are underway between the Sudanese army and commanders in the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia across the Kordofan and Blue Nile axes regarding their surrender.

The developments come amid the surrender of RSF commander Ali Rizqallah, widely known as “Al-Safana,” to the army, signalling widening fractures within the RSF ranks.

Al-Safana, one of the militia’s most prominent field commanders, officially announced his defection from the RSF militia on Monday.

In a video circulated on social media, Al-Safana said: “From today, I have no connection with the RSF and I announce my complete defection from these forces. My voice is the voice of the Sudanese people.”

He added: “We are not advocates of war; we stand for peace, security and stability,” while affirming that he had not joined any other military faction.
Al-Safana did not disclose further details regarding the reasons behind his defection or his next destination.
The defection marks the second such split within RSF ranks in less than two months.
