Sudanese Army Recaptures Al-Kaili, Advances Toward Al-Kormuk

The Sudanese Armed Forces announced on Saturday that they had regained control of the town of Al-Kaili in the Blue Nile region following fierce battles against an alliance of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) led by Abdelaziz Al-Hilu.

The militia alliance had seized the strategically located Al-Kaili area on April 25 after intense fighting, owing to its proximity to the Ethiopian border.

In a statement, the command of the Fourth Infantry Division of the Sudanese Army in the Blue Nile region said its forces, backed by supporting units, succeeded in liberating Al-Kaili, located on the outskirts of Al-Kormuk town along the southern axis, after heroic battles against the “terrorist RSF militia” and the forces of rebel commander Joseph Tuka.

The statement said the army inflicted heavy losses in personnel and equipment on the rebel forces, while the remaining fighters fled under sustained military strikes.

Meanwhile, the city of Ad-Damazin witnessed mass celebrations following the recapture of Al-Kaili, with thousands gathering in the main streets to mark the army’s advance.

The statement reaffirmed the Fourth Infantry Division’s commitment to continuing military operations until “all areas of responsibility are fully cleared, the rebellion defeated, the borders secured, and security and stability reinforced.”
