Al-Mirghani to Al-Burhan: We Look Forward to a Day When the Ballot Boxes Speak for All
The head of the Democratic Bloc and Deputy Chairman of the Unionist Democratic Party (Origin), Jaafar Al-Mirghani, affirmed during his meeting with Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, that recourse to the ballot box represents the ultimate exit from Sudan’s crisis, declaring openness to all national forces that “do not fear the ballot.”
Al-Mirghani stressed support for the state and its institutions, pointing to ongoing consultations aimed at expanding the national dialogue toward purely Sudanese solutions that safeguard the country’s unity and sovereignty.
Al-Mirghani, accompanied by a delegation of Democratic Bloc leaders, met Al-Burhan at the Republican Palace in Khartoum. He opened the meeting by expressing sincere appreciation to the TSC President for his steadfastness, describing it as the key factor behind the resilience of the state since the first moment of what he termed “betrayal” up to the present. He asserted that this historic steadfastness preserved Sudan’s unity and sovereignty, adding that history will record the leadership’s stance in saving the state at a moment when everything was at stake.
Al-Mirghani also briefed the TSC President on the ongoing direction to broaden the base of the national dialogue to include all national forces committed to Sudan’s unity and sovereignty. He affirmed that the Democratic Bloc is engaged in serious consultations to incorporate the widest possible spectrum of political and societal forces in this process, underscoring its belief that Sudanese solutions can only come from Sudanese themselves.
