Al-Burhan’s adviser praises Saudi efforts to end war in Sudan
Political adviser to the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Amjad Farid, praised Saudi Arabia’s key role toward Sudan, highlighting in particular the efforts of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in supporting peaceful settlement tracks and clarifying the reality of the Sudanese crisis to the US administration during his recent visit.
In a post on X, Farid said he conveyed Sudan’s appreciation, both government and people, to Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, during a meeting at the Saudi mission headquarters in New York. He described the Kingdom’s continued political and humanitarian support as “fraternal and sincere” amid the country’s ongoing crisis.
The meeting discussed developments on the ground in Sudan, where the political adviser said that violations and crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are continuing. Farid noted that the group’s failure to abide by agreements, particularly the Jeddah Agreement, remains the main obstacle to efforts to end the war and alleviate the suffering of Sudanese civilians.
He also said the discussions addressed the “narrative warfare” and disinformation campaigns promoted by certain parties to distort the image of the Sudanese government and misrepresent the nature of the conflict.
Farid said there is a clear Saudi understanding and awareness of attempts to create an “alternative reality” to justify the war, praising Saudi Arabia’s balanced positions aimed at restoring peace and stability in Sudan.
TSC President Adviser expressed Sudanese gratitude for the Kingdom’s positions, stressing that these efforts reflect Saudi Arabia’s significant standing and its responsible and positive role in the region.
