Sisi to Trump Adviser: War in Sudan Must End
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Senior Adviser to the President of the United States for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty; Director of the General Intelligence Service Major General Hassan Rashad; Acting U.S.
Ambassador to Cairo Robert Silverman; Political Counselor at the Embassy Scott Sanford; and Daniel Fullerton and Jeffrey Silliman from the U.S. side.
According to the Presidential Spokesman, Boulos conveyed the greetings and appreciation of U.S. President Donald Trump to President El-Sisi, who asked that his greetings be relayed in return, expressing appreciation for the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States and its current momentum.
The Spokesman added that the meeting addressed developments in Sudan, where both sides underscored the need to intensify efforts to end the war and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Sudanese people. President El-Sisi welcomed the international community’s pledge of €1.5 billion at the Berlin Conference to support humanitarian response efforts.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s position on the Sudan crisis, stressing the importance of preserving Sudan’s sovereignty and unity, rejecting external interference or attempts to undermine its security and stability or create a political vacuum. He also highlighted Egypt’s active engagement within the Quadrilateral Mechanism aimed at ending the war and reaching a sustainable political solution.
For his part, Boulos expressed U.S. appreciation for Egypt’s role in the Sudan crisis, commending its positions in support of stability and affirming Washington’s commitment to close coordination with Egypt and the Quadrilateral partners.
The Spokesman noted that the meeting also discussed developments in Lebanon, where President El-Sisi praised the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump to reach a ceasefire.
