Prime Minister: Berlin Conference and Its Outcomes Do Not Concern Sudan’s Government or People
Prime Minister Kamil Idris stated that the international conference on Sudan currently taking place in Berlin does not represent the Government or people of Sudan, stressing that its outcomes are therefore of no consequence to them.
Speaking at a press conference in Khartoum, the Prime Minister said the Sudanese government had not been invited to participate, describing its exclusion as a grave error by the organizers and warning that the absence of the government signals the likely failure of the conference.
He asserted that partial solutions are unacceptable to both the Government and people of Sudan, pointing to public demonstrations that reflect widespread rejection of externally imposed solutions. He added that had the government been invited, it would have participated and presented the realities on the ground, noting that the conference constitutes a one-off event rather than a sustained process.
Prime Minister Kamil Idris reaffirmed the Government of Hope’s openness to all initiatives that advance peace, declaring 2026 a “year of peace”—one he defined as the peace of the courageous and victorious, embraced by all Sudanese.
He further underscored that the government will continue regional and international engagement, including with the United Nations and its agencies, as well as with all stakeholders, including countries participating in the Berlin conference.
