Darfur Governor Dismisses Berlin Conference as “Waste of Time,” Accuses Organizers of Backing War

Governor of Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minnawi, has described the upcoming Berlin Conference on Sudan as “strange” and unlikely to yield any new outcomes, asserting that some participating parties represent “capitals that support the war.”

Speaking upon his return to Port Sudan on Saturday following a European tour that included Switzerland, France, and Germany, Minnawi stated that “the conference and its outcomes cannot be relied upon,” expressing expectations that it would produce no meaningful results.

He further asserted that the composition of participating actors undermines the credibility of the initiative, reiterating his skepticism about its ability to contribute to resolving the ongoing conflict.
