Sudan Welcomes Temporary De-escalation Between Washington and Tehran
The Government of Sudan has welcomed the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump to suspend military operations for two weeks, describing the move as a positive step toward de-escalation.
In a statement issued by the media office of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), the government affirmed its support for the diplomatic track as a means to advance peace and stability in the region.
The welcome comes amid rapidly evolving regional developments, following President Trump’s decision to halt a widely anticipated large-scale attack on Iran for two weeks, approximately 90 minutes before the expiration of a previously set, highly sensitive deadline.
The decision followed diplomatic contacts led by Pakistan with the U.S. side, involving Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir, in an effort to contain the escalation.
In a related context, the Government of Sudan condemned and denounced the Iranian attack targeting energy facilities in Jubail, in the Saudi Arabia.
The government stressed in its statement that such attacks on energy infrastructure and vital facilities undermine efforts aimed at achieving stability and peace in the region.
