Sudan Warns of Coordinated Fake Accounts Targeting State Leadership

The Media Monitoring Office at the Ministry of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism has warned of a surge in the activity of organized “electronic rooms” operating on Facebook and X, impersonating support for the Sudanese Armed Forces to advance disinformation agendas targeting military leaders and the Prime Minister.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the office said these fake accounts use official state symbols, including the Sudanese Armed Forces emblem “Falcon of Jediane” and the national flag, as well as images of Sovereignty Council leaders and martyrs of the “Battle of Dignity,” as cover for coordinated psychological warfare campaigns.

The office noted that these pages are managed under repeated and pseudonymous names to create a false sense of legitimacy for their misleading content.

Monitoring efforts have identified a consistent and organized pattern in launching attacks against military leadership by casting doubt on the capabilities and roles of the armed forces, in an attempt to undermine national cohesion.

The statement further indicated that these campaigns also seek to discredit the performance of the “Government of Hope,” targeting the Prime Minister, several ministers, and public figures, while fueling division and promoting agendas aligned with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rebel militia and its domestic and external supporters.

The Media Monitoring Office urged citizens and the public to exercise the utmost caution, avoid being deceived by the visual identities of such pages, and refrain from engaging with content aimed at eroding trust in state institutions.

The ministry affirmed that these activities fall within the “psychological media warfare” directed against the state, stressing the importance of relying exclusively on official and credible sources for information.
