Due to Empowerment Committee… $3 Million Vanishes from Sudanese Chambers of Industry Treasury

The Sudanese Federation of Chambers of Industry announced the official launch of efforts to pursue and hold accountable those responsible for the mismanagement and bankruptcy of the Federation’s Company, attributing full responsibility to the now frozen Empowerment Committee affiliated with the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) for the company’s collapse and the loss of its estimated $3 million capital.

The federation’s Secretary-General, Abbas Ali Al-Sayid, told SUNA that the takeover of the company by the Empowerment Committee marked a turning point that led to its bankruptcy and halted its role as a “powerful right-hand arm” supporting Sudan’s industrial sector. He noted that the company had previously played a pioneering role in providing financing and facilitating production operations across various industrial sectors in the country.

Al-Sayid reviewed the company’s record of achievements prior to the committee’s control, which included:
• Food industry: Supplying around 200,000 tons of sugar annually for more than five years.

• Vegetable oils: Upgrading mills, importing modern machinery and spare parts, enhancing production stability, particularly in peanut-producing areas in western Sudan.

• Petrochemical industry: Supporting small and large plastics factories by providing raw materials.

• Textile industry: Overseeing and improving production processes in this vital sector.

The Secretary-General emphasized that the federation will not relent in reclaiming its rights and holding accountable those responsible for the systematic destruction of one of the most important industrial finance institutions, which had contributed for years to driving the national economy.
