Nine Killed, Others Injured in Landmine Explosion in South Kordofan
Nine people were killed and several others injured after a landmine detonated on the Sanadra road, west of Al-Abbasiya Taggali Locality in South Kordofan, local sources told Ultra Sudan.
According to the sources, the explosion occurred on Friday, February 13, when a tuk-tuk carrying civilians hit a landmine on the Sanadra road in Al-Abbasiya Taggali.
The sources added that both the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and the SPLM–North have been planting landmines across wide areas of Kordofan to hinder army movements, which recently advanced to lift the siege on Kadugli and Al-Dalang. They urged residents to exercise extreme caution due to the ongoing threat posed by the mines.
A similar incident took place on January 9, when a landmine exploded under a lorry traveling from Umbraimbita to Tandik market, killing two women, injuring others, and destroying the vehicle.
Previously, a specialized demining team in South Kordofan successfully removed at least ten landmines along the road between Al-Faid and Khur Al-Dalaib in the Eastern Mountains of South Kordofan.
