Sudanese Army Spokesperson Announces Destruction of Drones and Air Defense Systems

Sudanese Army spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Asim Awad, announced that the army’s air units successfully detected and destroyed several hostile drones and their associated systems with high precision in regions of Kordofan and Darfur.

Sources revealed that the army destroyed an air defense system in Al‑Dibeibat following tracking and surveillance by military intelligence.

In a notable achievement added to its historical record, the army pinpointed the location of a Chinese FD-2000 air defense system, immediately followed by a rapid, targeted airstrike that completely destroyed it.

The system, which had previously been used in the attacks on Al-Fashir and Babanusa, was finally neutralized in Al‑Dibeibat, effectively enabling the air force to target any rebel gatherings across Kordofan and Darfur.

The destroyed system was valued at $20 million. Its operational range varies: the standard FD-2000 covers approximately 125 km, while the upgraded FD-2000B can reach 250 km.

The system is designed to intercept fighter jets, cruise missiles, and tactical ballistic missiles, using radar-guided missiles with high resistance to electronic jamming.
