Fuel Traders Arrested in Nyala

Local sources in Nyala, South Darfur, reported on Monday that the intelligence wing of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) carried out an arrest campaign last week targeting three fuel traders: Ahmed Bakhit, Mohamed Zain Al-Abidin, and Al-Fadil Adam.

The sources told Darfur24 that an administrative dispute broke out in the fuel market between RSF intelligence personnel and the three traders before they were taken to one of the city’s RSF detention centres.

They added that the detainees are active in the fuel trade, and one of them serves as head of the committee representing those affected by the fuel market fire that erupted last December after the market was targeted by a suicide drone.

The fuel market was struck in late December by a drone attack, causing large-scale fires that destroyed substantial quantities of fuel, resulting in financial losses estimated at around 4 trillion Sudanese pounds, in addition to the destruction of a large number of empty barrels.
