Rare Attack by Hamdok’s Coalition Confronts RSF Militia

The “Sumood” coalition, affiliated with former Prime Minister Hamdok, condemned the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia’s attacks on humanitarian convoys and aid workers in the Kordofan region, describing them as a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

In a statement, the coalition said that the repeated assaults on convoys and the obstruction of aid to civilians amount to using starvation and depriving populations of relief as a method of warfare—an act punishable under international law.

The statement emphasized that protecting civilians and ensuring unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance is both a legal and moral obligation. It also called on regional and international actors to take a clear stance on these violations and work to secure humanitarian corridors in affected areas.
