Sudan-Djibouti Talks Focus on Peace, Trade and Strategic Cooperation
Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh on Wednesday received Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris for official talks on strengthening bilateral relations and supporting Sudan’s stability during its transitional phase.
President Guelleh reiterated Djibouti’s full support for Sudan’s Peace Initiative, underscored the importance of Sudan’s return to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the African Union, and expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate across political, economic, and logistical sectors.
Prime Minister Idris briefed the Djiboutian leadership on developments in Sudan, affirming his government’s commitment to comprehensive peace, economic and trade cooperation, and exchange of expertise in the ports sector to benefit both nations. He described Djibouti as a strategic partner in rebuilding Sudanese institutions and enhancing regional stability.
Idris also held bilateral talks with Djiboutian Prime Minister Abdulkader Kamil Mohamed, focusing on expanded cooperation in transport, trade, security, and education, as well as other areas of mutual interest.
On the sidelines of the visit, Idris and his delegation toured Doraleh Port and the multipurpose port, highlighting Sudan’s interest in strengthening logistical cooperation with Djibouti, particularly in light of challenges facing Sudan’s infrastructure rehabilitation.
