New Saudi–U.S. Initiative Aims to End the War in Sudan
Sudanese sources said the United States administration and Saudi Arabia have presented President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, with a new initiative aimed at ending the war in Sudan.
According to the sources, the proposal to end the conflict begins with the declaration of a humanitarian truce, followed by a phase to halt hostilities, ultimately leading to a “final and comprehensive ceasefire.”
The sources added that Al-Burhan discussed the Saudi–U.S. proposal with several partners during joint and separate meetings, as part of intensive consultations on the initiative.
They further told “Asharq” that Sudan is still discussing and shaping its official response to the initiative and the pathway to ending the war, ahead of submitting it to the U.S. administration.
