Tightened Inspections and Nighttime Vehicle Ban in Khartoum After 11 p.m.

The Chairman of the Khartoum State Security Committee and Wali (governor) of Khartoum, Ahmed Osman Hamza, along with members of the committee, conducted an extensive inspection tour on Monday evening that continued until the early hours of Tuesday. The tour covered checkpoints and fixed and mobile security posts within Khartoum locality and extended to the state’s border with Al-Gezira State.

The committee inspected the implementation of recent directives and emphasized the enforcement of the state-issued curfew and the ban on vehicle movement into or within the capital after 11 p.m. Traffic police and security checkpoints were instructed to stop any vehicles violating the restriction, while the joint security forces were directed to monitor the movement across entry points.

Wali Hamza explained that the purpose of the tour was to ensure the presence and performance of forces stationed at designated checkpoints and crossings in accordance with the directives issued by the state and the Security Committee — particularly regarding full inspection procedures. These include verifying the identities of incoming individuals, inspecting goods and cargo to prevent the smuggling of stolen or prohibited items, and ensuring that wanted individuals and collaborators do not evade justice.

The Wali, who also chairs the Security Committee, directed that a circular be distributed to all security organs specifying the curfew hours.

For his part, Khartoum State Police Chief, Lieutenant General (Police) Siraj-Eddin Mansour, who serves as the committee’s rapporteur, stated that the visit confirmed the efficiency of checkpoints and that all security levels are working jointly as partners in maintaining the safety of the state.
