Minnawi Warns of Grave Plot Aimed at Separating Darfur

El-Fashir – Sudanese Echoes

Governor of Darfur Region Minni Arko Minnawi said the situation in El-Fashir amounts to a humanitarian catastrophe beyond description, stressing that conditions there have become even more complicated than those in Gaza, particularly with the complete absence of functioning hospitals.

Minnawi noted that the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) obstructed humanitarian relief efforts, blocking more than 20 convoys belonging to the United Nations and humanitarian organizations that had departed from Al-Dabba towards El-Fashir, forcing them to stop in Mellit, and even burning over 10 aid convoys. He described this as a crime against humanity.

He added that such practices reflect a grave scheme aimed at separating Darfur and fragmenting Sudan in favor of international powers that benefit from the continuation of the conflict. He called on the international community and the UN Security Council to act urgently to open humanitarian corridors and protect civilians in Darfur.
