Maj. Gen. Abbas Bakhit appointed Deputy Director of Sudan’s General Intelligence Service

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, has issued a decision appointing Major General Abbas Mohamed Bakhit as Deputy Director of the General Intelligence Service.

Bakhit joins the Deputy Director, Lt . Gen. Mohamed Abbas Al-Labib.

By appointing Maj. Gen. Bakhit, the General Intelligence Service has two deputies assisting the Director General in managing portfolios.

An Intelligence source stated that the decision came in light of the need to strengthen the leadership structure within the Intelligence Service and distribute the burden among several senior leaderships, given the complicated security and military challenges facing Sudan, which require redoubled intelligence efforts and close coordination in decision-making and field monitoring.
