Al-Dagalo and Al-Hilu Militias Fall into Army Trap West of Kadugli

Field sources have revealed the results of a violent battle that took place north of the Heglig area and west of Kadugli between the army and the militia.
During the battle, Janjaweed forces and members of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment.
Reports indicated that Janjaweed forces and members of the SPLM-N launched a surprise attack on Al-Gawareer area, but the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) tactically withdrew for military reasons before regrouping and launching a calculated counterattack.
The sources explained that the timing of the counterattack came while the Janjaweed forces were busy celebrating and taking pictures with what is known as the “Barsham Exhibition,” leaving them vulnerable to a sudden and decisive blow that led to their rapid collapse.
The attack resulted in the complete destruction of four combat vehicles.
The army also captured two twin-barreled cannons and a number of motorcycles, with several others destroyed during the battle. Reports confirmed that the attack resulted in the deaths of large numbers of Janjaweed fighters, amid a significant decline and collapse within their ranks, which resulted in the SAF regaining full control of the area.
