(Sudanese Echoes) succeeded, for the first time, through an investigative journalistic investigation – to be published later – on the rape crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia against women and girls, succeeded for the first time in interrogating the only witness to the crime of gang rape RSF militia committed inside the women’s prayer hall attached to the University of Khartoum (U of K) mosque in the early morning on the day of the dispersal of the sit-in against 15 girls who were using the prayer hall as a place to sleep after preparing dinner and suhoor (Ramadan pre-dawn meal) for the protesters during the month of Ramadan.
The witness disclosed that while she was escaping from the heavy gunfire in the sit-in square, she tried to hide with her friend inside the prayer hall, but she heard the screams of the girls coming from inside. So she looked through a small loophole in the window and saw about 20 militia members wearing their well-known uniforms starting to rape the girls. After they left, she entered the prayer hall and found most of the girls dead from gunshot wounds to their heads, completely naked. Those who were not killed by gunfire were unable to move as a result of the sexual violence practiced against them by the militiamen, while pools of blood covered the entire mosque.
She and her friend did not find anything to cover them with except wrapping their naked bodies in prayer rugs.
