Sudan welcomes the exit of foreign and local correspondents from militia strongholds

The Government of Sudan welcomes the departure of all journalists and foreign media correspondents from areas where the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia is deployed, relocating to areas protected by the Sudanese Armed Forces.

The rebel RSF militia has engaged in barbaric behavior, humiliating and threatening journalists who have covered events from their workplaces while adhering to fundamental journalistic principles and values.

We urge all international institutions and organizations concerned with press freedom and the protection of journalists to condemn the actions of the rebel RSF militia, which has committed every imaginable crime.

We affirm that the Sudanese government is committed to protecting journalists and providing them with the necessary support. Furthermore, we emphasize that journalists who have chosen to relocate to areas under the control of the Sudanese Armed Forces, leaving behind regions where rebel militias and gangs are active, have made the right decision. This decision reflects their confidence that the Sudanese Armed Forces are ensuring their safety and providing an environment conducive to the free and effective conduct of their work.
