Intelligence Service

Ali Askory

Once again, some circles have become talking about the Intelligence Service after they despaired of talking about the Armed Forces (SAF) and the attempt to dismantle them, because they witnessed the unprecedented rallying of citizens behind SAF to support their Army in the Fateful Battle of Dignity.

These voices have returned to skepticize, challenge and pin baseless accusations on the Intelligence Service and its members. No doubt, these rusty arrows will break and rebound on them.

What is noticeable this time is that both the left and the right parties are trying to undermine the Intelligence Service, and this is a striking matter, as the struggle has always been between both them to control it and use it to beat political opponents and settle political scores.

The Intelligence Service in all countries are, in their final outcome, a (tool) used by the authorities to protect society and maintain stability and public security.

To achieve this goal, the state issues the legislations required for the Intelligence Service to carry out its job.
It goes without saying that the Intelligence Service do not issue its legislations, but rather the existing authority and its legislative institutions are the ones who issue it, and which determine the tasks and powers of the Intelligence Service. Therefore, the blame should not fall on the Intelligence Service and its members, but on the political authority that issued the legislation in the first place. This is the source of the disease and the problem in our political life, or as they say “If you want to kill an elephant, you cannot stab its shadow”.

When the Directorate of Operations of the Intelligence Service was dissolved, no protest demonstration took place despite the seriousness of the decision. Rather, the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) were happy and believed that they had scored a resounding victory over the Intelligence Service, which they naively believed was their enemy and they did not realize that they had led their country and society to the abyss..! If they were aware of the seriousness of what they did, then they are traitors who must be tried, and if they were not aware, then they are naive and unfit to rule..! As how can a sane person dismantle the shield that protects his society from arrows, and then claim and allege that he is keen on the security of the country.

*Nothing has harmed our country like demanding perfection in organizations whose jobs requires several (procedures) to protect the security of society and the cohesion of the state.

Therefore, work in the Intelligence Service must include all segments of society with their various records. The Intelligence Service needs to be present among all components of society, women, men, students, employees, businessmen, university professors, craftsmen, imams (preachers), thieves, scoundrels, scums, farmers, workers, journalists, etc. because these are the components of society that the Intelligence Service must protect, and without its presence among them it cannot protect them. As for some behaviors that violate the prevailing laws for some of these groups, they are the duties of the police and the courts and the Intelligence Service has nothing to do with them.

Dismantling sensitive institutions such as the army and Intelligence Service is, in its essence, dismantling the state. During its rule, the FFC had almost eradicated the Intelligence Service as an institution and left our country “Amfco”.. i.e (without security protection) that was infiltrated by ambassadors far and wide to extent that the outlaw RSF militia commander explicitly declared: (The embassies control us).. And no respectable country can allow the Vice-President to say such a thing and go to sleep reassured..! As is known, the FFC group remained silent on the statement of its ally and did not deny that the embassies were controlling the country they were ruling at the time, and that was an admission of a reality.

None of the FFC leaderships dared to deny the statement of the leader of their military wing, while their national duty dictated them to bring out the idle supporters in a demonstration against those statements and to demand the dismissal of the Vice-President and to remove that accusation from them completely, but they were partners in that, subject to the ambassadors’ directives (an admission of colonialism).

After FFC felt that the Intelligence Service had become toothless, it took the final stride, which was to dismantle the army, relying on its military wing, and it received the consequences of its actions.

The national political forces must come to consensus and commit not to talk about the army and the Intelligence Service in the media, whatever the causes and justifications! If they have comments about these institutions, they must be submitted in written remarks to their leaders without noise. I swear with Allah Almighty, I do not know a people who talk about their country’s Intelligence Service in all media outlets in such a naive manner as ours. Therefore, it was high time to issue legislation that criminalizes anyone who talks about the Intelligence Service in the media, coupled with opening of a channel for political forces to convey their observations about the Intelligence and Security Services to their leaders.

It is worth noting at the end of this article that there is no institution, whether civil or military, that does not need to be reformed, but not demolition and dismantling, as all institutions by their nature need be reformed and modernization. Simply because the changing social and political reality requires it. But peoples do not go to the media to (tear down) their institutions in front of the world.

*Reforming sensitive institutions such as the Army and Intelligence Service is discussed by specialized committees in elected parliaments that submit their reports and recommendations to the Presidency of the State, and then reform is carried out without Noise or Fuss.
