32 Civilians Killed and Injured in Artillery Shelling by the Dagalo Militia on Neighborhoods of El-Fashir

Doctors in Sudan announced on Monday that at least 13 civilians were killed and dozens injured, including children and women, as a result of artillery shelling carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on several neighborhoods in El-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur State.

The militia launched a violent attack early this morning on parts of the city, accompanied by intense artillery bombardment targeting civilian gathering areas, which caused a large number of casualties.

In a statement, the Sudan Doctors’ Network reported that “at least 13 people were killed and 19 others injured, including seven children and a pregnant woman, due to the deliberate artillery shelling by the RSF militia on neighborhoods in El-Fashir.”

The network strongly condemned the militia’s continued crimes against unarmed civilians in El-Fashir, which have resulted in mounting casualties amid dire humanitarian and health conditions, as most medical facilities are out of service.

It added that many bodies and wounded civilians remain stranded in the targeted areas, as access to them is hindered by ongoing shelling and clashes inside the city.

The statement stressed that what is happening in El-Fashir constitutes a full-fledged war crime and a systematic targeting of civilian life, which is repeated daily amid what it described as international silence and failure to protect hundreds of thousands of civilians trapped in the city.
