239 Children Die Due to Malnutrition in El-Fashir

The medical team of the Sudan Doctors Network has documented the deaths of 239 children from malnutrition and food and medicine shortages in North Darfur State between January and June.

This was due to the increasing incidence of hunger, food and medicine shortages, and the bombing of child nutrition warehouses in El-Fashir.

The network expressed, in a statement, regret for the world’s neglect of Darfur’s children, who have been under siege for more than a year, amid a complete lack of most food supplies and soaring prices in El-Fashir and the camps in North Darfur State.

The network issued an urgent appeal to save the remaining civilians who are subjected to the siege and continuous bombardment.

The network called on regional and international organizations to pressure the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia to accept and implement the armistice proposed by the UN Secretary-General, open an urgent lifeline for the entry of urgent humanitarian aid and medical supplies, and lift the siege imposed on the city for more than a year.
