Workshop on Political Parties Law Reform to Be Held in Port Sudan
Port Sudan – Sudanese Echoes
A workshop on reforming the Political Parties Law of 2007 will be held in Port Sudan at the end of this month, with the participation of a number of experts and representatives of Sudanese political parties.
Leila Osman, Chairperson of the Political Parties Affairs Council, said the workshop aims to review and update the law in line with the constitutional and political developments taking place in Sudan, as well as to promote democracy by facilitating party participation in political life and simplifying procedures for their registration and formation.
She added that the workshop also seeks to ensure transparency and accountability by regulating party funding and donations, and preventing foreign influence on the political landscape.
The two-day event will discuss three working papers, with the participation of all registered parties, alongside a group of experts and politicians.
This marks the Council’s first activity since the outbreak of the war on April 15 last year.
