With a capacity of 150,000 barrels per day, new refinery to be established in Portsudan

Ministry of Petroleum and Energy signed in Beijing a memorandum of understanding with the Shanghai Petrochemical Company to establish a new oil refinery in Portsudan with a capacity of 150,000 barrels per day (7 million tons) annually.

 

 

The General Manager of the Pipeline Company, Mohamed Salih Osman, signed on behalf of the ministry, while the General Manager of the Chinese Company, Shi, signed on behalf of the company, in the presence of the Minister of Oil, Mohi-Eddin El-Naeem, and the Sudanese Ambassador to China, Omar Siddig.

 

 

Minister of Petroleum and Energy said that the Khartoum refinery allows for the storage of a maximum of 22,000 barrels per day, while the new refinery will enable exporting petroleum products to Ethiopia and other neighboring countries that are closed, adding that it will be a real addition to the national economy.
