Unknown assailants shoot and kill a tribal leader in western Sudan

A member of the tribal administration in El-Geneina was shot dead by unknown gunmen driving a pickup truck who fled to an unknown location.

This is the second incident of its kind within 24 hours.

On Monday, a citizen was shot and killed in the Riyadh Market, west of El-Geneina.

Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that gunmen driving a pickup truck opened fire on Mayor Adam Hasaballah, near his home in the Om al-Gura area, east of El-Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State.

According to eyewitnesses, the mayor died before he could be treated, while the perpetrators managed to escape east of El-Geneina, according to eyewitness accounts.
