United Nations: What is Happening in Sudan is a “Global War” Fueled by Foreign Actors

The United Nations Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan stated on Tuesday that it had documented numerous crimes against humanity in Darfur, noting that more than 12 million people had been forcibly displaced.

The Mission urged the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia to cease targeting civilians, stressing that mediators must work towards achieving a ceasefire in Sudan and ensuring justice.

The Mission further indicated that there is clear evidence of violations of the arms embargo on Sudan and called on the UN Security Council to extend this embargo.

It affirmed that primary responsibility for what is happening in Sudan rests with both parties to the conflict.

The Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan emphasized that what is unfolding in the country is a global war fueled by foreign actors.
