UN report: Vandalization in Khartoum is “more than perception”

A recent international report published on Friday showed that the level of Vandalization in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, “exceeds the perception”, after about two years of war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Sudan, Muhammad Refaat, said that Khartoum is in a catastrophic situation, highlighting the horrific conditions faced by civilians in the affected areas.
Rifaat spoke to journalists in Geneva, on Friday, after a four -day visit to the Sudanese capital and its suburbs, indicating that he visited areas that were not possible to reach before, and witnessed with his eyes the extent of vandalism and suffering that people live in these areas.
He added: “I can tell you that the power stations were ransacked, and the water pipelines were destroyed. I am not talking about certain areas, but I am talking about every place I went to. I was in wars areas in Libya and Yemen and several other conflict areas. The level of destruction that I saw in Bahri and Khartoum cannot be conceived. There was no targeting of people’s homes only, nor for administrative areas, nor for military areas, but for all the basic infrastructure that can preserve the lives of people. ”
