The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) disclosed on Saturday that it documented the killing of 3,384 civilians in Sudan during the first half of this year, including 990 people outside the context of hostilities, in addition to 201 cases of sexual violence.

In its report, the Office stated that between January 1 and June 30, 2025, it verified the deaths of 3,384 civilians, among them at least 191 children.

The report noted that 2,394 victims were killed during combat operations, while the remaining 990 were subjected to unlawful killings outside direct fighting.

According to the report, Darfur was among the worst-affected regions, recording 1,535 civilian deaths, including 1,380 in North Darfur. It was followed by Kordofan with 724 deaths, Khartoum with 691, while the rest were recorded in Al-Gezira, White Nile, Sennar, River Nile, Northern, Blue Nile, and Kassala states.

The findings were based on regular monitoring by the UN Human Rights Office in Sudan, as well as interviews with victims, survivors, and eyewitnesses during field missions to Abyei and eastern Chad.
