TSC President Proposes Restoring Sudan’s Former National Flag

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, affirmed that any solution or initiative that does not include dismantling the terrorist rebel militia and stripping it of weapons is “completely unacceptable to us,” stressing that this is a “firm conviction.”

Speaking at a memorial ceremony for the martyrs of the Sudan Liberation Movement, he stated that options and solutions have become extremely limited because of the scale of bloodshed, loss of life, and suffering across wide areas of Sudan—especially in Darfur and El-Fashir.

Al-Burhan asserted that Sudan has only one solution: the elimination of the militia. He pledged retribution against the criminals, killers, and spite-driven actors who committed every form of atrocity, declaring that such individuals “no longer deserve to live among us in Sudan.”

The Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces paid tribute to the martyrs of Sudan and the Battle of Dignity and Honor, underscoring the duty to safeguard the rights of all who sacrificed blood, money, or effort for the nation. He noted that the entire Sudanese people have been affected by the war, issuing a call to anyone willing to take up arms against the militia: “They are welcome to join the effort to eradicate the terrorist rebel militia.”

Al-Burhan praised the prominent role consistently played by Minni Arko Minawi, Governor of the Darfur Region, commending his commitment to ending the battle and restoring citizens’ rights from the militia. He also conveyed deep appreciation to all joint forces supporting the Armed Forces in the Battle of Dignity and Honor, saying: “We thank you and value your efforts, sacrifices, sincere brotherly fighting spirit, and your steadfast stand with Sudan and its suffering citizens.”

The TSC President underscored the importance of cooperation and solidarity to defeat the militia, welcoming the displaced persons (IDPs) who fled from El-Fashir and other areas entered by the Al-Dagalo terrorist militia.

Al-Burhan presented a proposal to bring back Sudan’s old national flag—the Independence Flag—calling for a return to the tricolour raised by the forefathers at the moment of independence. He also stressed the need to reconstitute the Sudanese state from the ground up and build a nation on sound and just foundations.
