Trump Advisor Meets Sudanese Civil Leaders in Abu Dhabi

U.S. Special Envoy Massad Boulos arrived in the United Arab Emirates capital, Abu Dhabi, today, Sunday, on a visit described as “highly sensitive,” to hold meetings with leaders of Sudanese civil forces supporting an end to the war.

According to senior U.S. administration officials, Boulos, the senior advisor at the U.S. State Department for African affairs, will conduct a series of discreet meetings with Sudanese political and civil figures, in a move Washington considers one of its most significant diplomatic efforts on the Sudanese file in recent months.

The discussions will focus on bolstering support for civil blocs, alongside accelerating the political track that the United States seeks to revive after a prolonged impasse. The visit signals a renewed direct U.S. interest in the Sudanese crisis and an attempt to push civil actors toward a unified stance, paving the way for a new political process aimed at ending the war, now in its third year.
