Terrorist RSF Militia Drones Strike Civilian Sites in Khartoum
Khartoum: (Sudan Echoes)
At least three locations across the Sudanese capital came under drone attacks on Tuesday, carried out by the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
The strikes caused power outages in parts of Omdurman.
A Sudan Echoes correspondent reported hearing multiple explosions Tuesday morning in northern Omdurman.
The drone assaults came just two days after the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) intensified operations in Kordofan, aiming to retake key towns in the region and break the siege on El-Fashir, the largest city in Darfur.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that RSF drones targeted the Wadi Syidna military Zone and Al-Merkhiyat power substation northwest of Omdurman, leading to wide-scale electricity cuts.
In May, an RSF drone attack disabled three major power stations in Omdurman, triggering severe outages across densely populated and economically active areas of Khartoum State.
On Tuesday, the militia drones hit at least three more locations: Al-Merkhiyat in northern Omdurman, Al-Kalakla in southern Khartoum, and Al-Gaili in northern Khartoum Bahri.
The new wave of attacks coincides with government efforts to restore normalcy in the capital, with plans underway to reopen Khartoum International Airport to air traffic in October.
Video footage circulating online showed fires engulfing power transformers at Al-Merkhiyat substation.
In southern Khartoum, eyewitnesses reported drones crossing the White Nile before explosions were heard near the Yarmouk area in Al-Kalakla, which hosts an ammunition plant.
Further north, residents of Al-Gaili—around 40 kilometers from Khartoum Bahri—confirmed drone activity near the Khartoum oil refinery.
