Sudan’s Prime Minister Condemns Kalogi Massacre, Labels Militia as “Terrorist Organization”
Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris strongly condemned the attack targeting a kindergarten and a hospital in Kalogi town, Gadir Locality, South Kordofan State, describing the actions of the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia as barbaric and ruthless.
During phone calls with the victims’ families and local officials, including the Executive Director of Kalogi, as well as with the Wali of South Kordofan State, Prime Minister Idris emphasized that the incident constitutes a fully-fledged war crime, noting that the militia has met all criteria to be classified as a terrorist organization targeting civilians, including children.
The Prime Minister called upon international organizations and human rights bodies to condemn this heinous and unprecedented act, carried out by the rebel militia and those who support it through planning, funding, and training.
He affirmed the government’s full support for the victims and the affected communities, pledging to assist the state with all possible means to achieve security and stability. According to a statement from the Council of Ministers, the recent attacks demonstrate the militia’s deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure and essential services, citing the assault on the Roseires Transformation Power Station as a blatant violation of all international and humanitarian norms and laws.
The Prime Minister concluded by calling on the United Nations, human rights organizations, and the international community to condemn the militia and classify it as a terrorist organization.
