Sudan’s Government Considers Land Evacuation from Yemen After Aden Airport Closure
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation affirmed that safeguarding the interests of Sudanese citizens abroad, ensuring their safety, and providing them with consular services remain a top priority for Sudan’s embassies and missions overseas.
The ministry stated that it monitors daily the situation of Sudanese nationals in various parts of Yemen, assuring that their conditions are stable and that they are safe.
According to the ministry, the accredited embassy in Yemen maintains continuous contact with Sudanese citizens across the country, both in the north and south, and has been exploring, even before recent developments, the possibility of organizing the return of those wishing to come home.
The ministry confirmed ongoing coordination with Yemeni authorities regarding potential evacuations. However, the suspension of flights at Aden Airport amid recent developments has prevented this option from being carried out for the time being.
The ministry is reportedly considering alternative options, including the possibility of organizing evacuation by land if air travel remains unfeasible.
