Sudan’s Foreign Minister: We come to an understanding with Moscow on Russian naval base agreement

Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Youssef Ahmed Al-Sharif has confirmed that Khartoum reached an understanding with Moscow regarding the Russian naval base agreement.

 

The Sudanese minister stressed that Russia thwarted the sending of international forces to Sudan, expressing his gratefulness for Russia’s support for his country in the Security Council.

 

The Sudan’s Foreign Minister stated that the Sudanese army’s victory in the battles strengthens our position internationally.

 

He stressed his country’s rejection of interference in Khartoum’s internal affairs.

 

The Sudanese minister concluded by saying: “We are negotiating with countries that support the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rebellion.”

 

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his deep concern to his Sudanese counterpart Ali Youssef Ahmed Al-Sharif about the developments in Sudan.

 

This came during talks held by Lavrov with Al-Sharif in Moscow.

 

The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that Moscow would take additional diplomatic steps towards a peaceful settlement in Sudan.

 

Lavrov stated, during his talks with his Sudanese counterpart, that Moscow announces its readiness, along with other external players, to contribute to normalizing the situation in Sudan.
