Sudanese Warplanes Rock Nyala Airport, Destroy UAE’s Cargo Plane and Jamming System

After a long absence, violent airstrikes by the Eagles of the Air Force rocked the city of Nyala, terrifying militia members.

The strikes on Nyala Airport resulted in the destruction of a United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) cargo plane and the killing of its crew, loading and unloading workers.

Sudanese warplanes destroyed a weapons shipment, warehouses, drones, and missiles near the airport.

The warplanes also succeeded in destroying a UAE air defense system and a jamming system located at the airport.

Ali Mansour, a journalist specializing in Darfur affairs, reported that the warplanes destroyed a jamming system stationed northeast of the border fence of Nyala Airport.

Mansour confirmed the destruction of a recently arrived weapons and ammunition depot.

The airstrike killed more than 100 militia elements assigned to guard the airport.

Mansour reported that medical facilities were overwhelmed with wounded, amid panic and the collapse of the militia ranks in the city.

The airstrike killed a member of the militia, who then launched a violent campaign of arrests among civilians. The arrests included officers within the militia’s ranks, amid mutual accusations that an internal agent had provided the army with the precise coordinates of weapons depots and the location of the modern air defense system.

The militia commandership issued instructions to prevent officers from entering the airport, and reinforcements were deployed on the heights leading to the airport.

Journalist Mansour reported that the militia’s field commander, Al-Fateh Al-Qadam, was killed in the airstrike. He had been wounded in the recent battles in El Fasher and was taken to the airport in preparation for his transfer to the UAE for treatment.
