Sudanese Refugee Killed in Eastern Chad Camp After Sexual Assault

A Sudanese refugee was killed in the Adré camp for Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad after being sexually assaulted — an incident that has sparked widespread shock and anger among refugees and the local community.
Sudanese refugees in Chad continue to suffer from insecurity inside the camps, along with shortages of food, drinking water, and medical care.
Sources told Darfur24 on Saturday that “the body of a Sudanese refugee was found by the roadside, and initial investigations by Chadian authorities revealed that the victim had been strangled with a rope. Forensic examinations also confirmed she had been sexually assaulted before being killed.”
The sources added that the victim, who was in her fifties, had been working near Adré Central Hospital, where she usually went early in the morning before she was attacked on her way to work.
They also noted that the woman had previously worked at El Geneina University in West Darfur State.
