Sudanese Public Campaign Launched to Fund Purchase of New Aircraft for Sudan Airways
Sudanese citizens have launched a national initiative aimed at supporting Sudan Airways (Sudanair) through a public fundraising campaign to purchase 10 new aircraft, financed by grassroots contributions from Sudanese inside the country and abroad, as well as friends of Sudan worldwide.
The initiative calls for opening an official account at the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS) under a triple-signature oversight mechanism comprising Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Member General Yassir Al-Atta, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Gebreil Ibrahim, and Sudan Airways Director General Mazin Al-Awad.
The measure is intended to ensure full transparency and direct all contributions toward the core objective of modernizing the airline’s fleet.
As part of the campaign, organizers have launched an official Facebook page to present the project’s goals and mobilize both public and professional support.
The effort seeks to restore Sudan Airways to a leading position in the regional and international aviation sector after years of decline and operational challenges, according to Sudan’s Al-Mashhad news website.
