Sudanese leaderships issue distress call to save the cities of Al-Dalang and Kadugli
Prominent Sudanese figures have issued an urgent distress call to save the cities of Al-Dalang and Kadugli in South Kordofan, Sudan.
Among these figures are former South Kordofan State Wali (governor) Dr. Hamid Al-Bashir, former Member Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Professor Siddig Tawer Kafi, leader of the National Umma Party Abdul-Jalil Al-Basha, and leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (origin) Ismail Yagoub Rahal, among others.
The Sudanese leaderships said in their appeal: “To the living conscience of humanity, to international relief organizations, to the United Nations, to the African Union, to the Red Crescent and the Red Cross, to all those who have the ability to act and rescue: The cities of Kadugli and Al-Dalang in South Kordofan, Sudan, are under siege and fire.”
The appeal added: “More than half a million people are living in catastrophic conditions that threaten their lives due to the ongoing war and the stifling siege that prevents the access of food, water, and medicine.”
The appeal explained: “In the city of Ad-Debaibat and its surroundings, tens of thousands of displaced families, including their children, elderly, and women, are scattered in the open, without shelter, exposed to the rain, harsh weather, and lacking the necessities of life.”
The Sudanese leaderships emphasized in their appeal that “food is completely unavailable, hospitals are incapable and threatened with closure, children are suffering from severe malnutrition, patients are finding no treatment, and pregnant women are giving birth in extremely dangerous conditions.”
The leaderships added: “The infrastructure has been destroyed, and daily life has turned into a struggle for survival. What is happening is not just a humanitarian crisis, but a silent catastrophe, as people die a slow death while the world turns a deaf ear.”
