Sudanese Congress Party Officially Joins Janjaweed-Led Government

The Janjaweed-led government—known as the “Tasis” Alliance and headed by Hemeidti—announced its welcome of the Sudanese Congress Party’s purported accession to the Sudan Founding Charter, in a signing ceremony held in Nairobi, Kenya. The party is headed by Omar Al-Dugair, with Khalid Omar, also known as Khalid Silk, serving as his deputy.

The Janjaweed-led government claimed in an official statement that the move signifies that the Tasis Alliance represents the voice of Sudanese people and the marginalized, whose voices, it said, are finally being heard. The statement added that the charter resonates with the minds and hearts of Sudanese who revolted against injustice and tyranny in December 2018.

In contrast, a statement signed by the party’s official spokesperson, Nour Al-Din Babiker, denied any connection to the signing, alleging that those who signed the charter were individuals falsely claiming to represent the party.
