Sudanese Army Repels Major RSF Attack on Al-Dalang in South Kordofan
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) repelled a major attack at dawn on Saturday by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) on the city of Al-Dalang from three directions.
The assault is the second of its kind since the army lifted the siege on Al-Dalang in January, reconnecting it with Kadugli, the state capital.
Military sources told Altra Sudan that the attackers began with artillery shelling from the east, causing casualties, including children.
The sources added that the attacking forces suffered losses in personnel and equipment, with combat vehicles seized. The situation returned to normal after the two-wave attack and subsequent clearance operations around the city.
Sudanese army drones conducted pre-emptive strikes hours before the assault, targeting RSF and SPLM-North positions in the Om Jamina area northwest of Al-Dalang, after intelligence detected forces preparing to attack.
The RSF and SPLM-North are attempting to reimpose a siege on Al-Dalang and close key supply routes reopened by the army.
